From Telegrams to Telegram Scams

There was a time when receiving a “Telegram” was filled with excitement. A time long before the internet and email, Mobile Phones and Sms. But now when my phone “beeps” with a new Notification from Telegram, it’s usually followed by dissapointment and dissbelief.

As part of my growing interest in all things “Scam”, i monitor numerous Telegram Groups. From Ponzi promoting channels promising the “best” new websites…..to Russian Cybercrime and Fraud groups selling stolen credit cards, bank logs and “Refund Scam” methods.

However, it’s the Ponzi channels that are more my speed. These channels act as intermediaries between Ponzi schemes and potential investors, carefully curating and promoting fraudulent investment opportunities. They also serve to boost the channel owners bank account, often promoting new sites with their own referral links….or posting sites they own themselves.

There is an extraordinary amount of “Crypto” groups on telegram, all claiming to have the next big thing. When in reality all they have is the next big payday for themselves. Say to yourself out loud “why are such amazing Crypto traders and investors promoting projects via an Anonymous platform like Telegram?”. Yes i want you to say it out loud. Now say the first few ideas out loud too. Mine are “Because its probably a scam” and “Because something they are doing isn’t legit”

As I monitor these channels, I can’t help but feel a sense of disappointment and disbelief. What was once an exciting platform for communication has now become a home to those seeking to exploit and deceive. The notifications that once held the promise of meaningful interactions and valuable information now serve as a reminder of the darker side of the digital age.
